Venue: EURESCOM (Heidelberg, Germany)

Contributions from:

Telenor, Alcatel, .
Abstract:
From the industrial revolution at the end of the last century many machines have evolved (planes, trains, automobiles) to make the people of the world mobile. With this new found mobility a demand has emerged to have mobile communications that support this new mobile world. When this is merged with the current rapid evolution of computing and data services we can see that we are truly entering the Communications revolution. Like all revolutions there is going a lot of change with many winners and losers. Telecommunications Companies now know that they must start "Moving to Mobility".
Organisation:
In the collaborative research EURESCOM is already studying the mobility related issues in many Projects. Four of them will present their key results in this workshop showing the significant achievements. We will also consider new challenges arising from the evolution of Integrated Fixed & Mobile Networks, Security for mobile IP and several aspects of UMTS that we are going to study in our 1999 workprogramme.
Audience:
Presentations from EURESCOM SHs and other companies playing a significant role in mobile communications will provide information to interested people including anyone working with planning or operational aspects of networks. Especially those who are considering the evolution of their network for the next generation of communications services. It will also be interesting to vendors of communications equipment and system integrators as they consider how to support Operators through this communications revolution.
