DESCRIPTION:CENTRIC co-workshop participation at Europe’s #1 destination for EU research collaboration and market opportunities with 6G-TWIN\, COALESSCE\, BeGREEN\, and IN2CCAM projects\n\n\n\n\n\nCENTRIC will organise with several other projects a workshop at the 12th annual edition of Sustainable Places (SP2024) is a hybrid event\, from 23rd to 25th September 2024\, with the in-person sessions hosted in Luxembourg.\n\nThe speaker representing the CENTRIC project will be given by Francesco Malandrino from CNR\, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. The workshop is co-organised with the projects: 6G-TWIN\, COALESSCE\, BeGEEN\, and IN2CCAM. \nKey Information\n\nDates: 23rd-25th September 2024\nPlace: European Convention Center Luxembourg\nWebsite: https://www.sustainableplaces.eu/\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConference Scope\n\n\n\n\n\nSustainability targets and climate change objectives cannot be met without addressing buildings and the built environment at the building\, district and urban scale including our transport and energy infrastructures. Renowned for showcasing results coming out of the EU Horizon 2020 and EU Horizon Europe Framework Programme via the participation of cutting-edge research and innovation projects\, the scope of Sustainable Places is captured directly in its name. It involves designing\, building and retrofitting the places we live and work more sustainably. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConference Concept\n\n\n\n\n\nSustainable Places prides itself on being an ideal platform for the dissemination of research\, the conduct of workshops\, EU project clustering and networking between stakeholders of all types. SP2024 will be held over three days in a hybrid (digital + in-person) event format. Between opening and closing keynote sessions\, parallel technical sessions and project-organized workshops will explore the various conference themes. Given world events we encouraged submissions on technology transfer\, renewable energy implementations and energy security to facilitate actions that increase the rate of renovation and renewable energy implementations. \n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the 2023 highlights\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConference Themes\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEach year\, Sustainable Places features topics that are shaping how we think about cities and the built environment. Across all editions\, Sustainable Places is open to all topics related to building sustainability and most often reflects priorities described in the European Commission Societal Challenges and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. \nThis year we propose the following list of themes. These themes are non-exhaustive and proposals received on other topics related to sustainability will also be examined: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEnergy Communities\, Smart Cities and Urban Transition\nRenewable Energy Technologies\nSustainable Construction & Renovation\nDecarbonization & Circularity\nClimate Change mitigation and adaptation\nFacilitating the energy transition: Policy\, Finance\, Training\nSustainable Urban Renewal & Cultural Transformation\nDigital Twins\, Smartness & Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability\nResilience and Energy Security

SUMMARY:Eurescom led 5GEOSiS project at 4th IEEE International Symposium on Joint Communications & Sensing
DESCRIPTION:The Eurescom led ESA project 5GEOSiS – 5G Earth Observation Server in Space will provide a tutorial with the title “Joint Communication and Sensing for Space: Understanding the Convergence of Space Functions through employing repurposable payloads” as part of the 4th IEEE International Symposium on Joint Communications & Sensing . The tutorial will provide the basic elements to understand the requirements\, system concepts and potential benefits of Joint Communication and Sensing from Space. The event is scheduled on 19 March in Leuven that will also be streamed. \n  \nThe integration of communication and radio sensing in the same spectrum is likely to be one of the key features in B5G wireless systems. A joint design of both services will improve the efficiency of spectrum usage\, and will offer the opportunity of providing radar as a service\, just like communications today. Recent advances in mmWave communications\, massive MIMO and machine learning\, among others\, are making this vision possible\, but many technical challenges still remain\, from hardware up to the application layer. Therefore\, Joint Communications and Sensing (JC&S) is the subject of rapidly growing interest in the research community\, and this symposium will focus on the different system and implementation aspects of this promising new approach\, bringing together academic and industrial experts from both the radar and communications research communities. \nWe look forward to welcoming you in beautiful Leuven\, Belgium this year. Our local host is the research hub imec. It offers the best conditions for a lively in-person exchange. For those unable to attend\, all sessions will also be streamed online and recordings will be available after the event.
